FAQ

A digital certificate is a code embedded in a document that proves the authenticity of the document.

ID verification comprises two parts: knowledge-based authentication, where the individual signer is asked a series of questions to verify their identity, and ID verification, where an ID is uploaded onto our platform to determine it is a valid document.

A virtual meeting room is similar to an office but virtual. A user can make use of this virtual meeting room to schedule signings at any time. Note that one user may not schedule more than one meeting at the same time.

Remote Online Notarization (also known as "RON") lets notaries and signers meet live, in an audiovisual communication to review, sign and notarized documents. This differs from traditional notarizations in that the signer and notary do not need to be in the physical presence of the other. All parties meet virtually.

Our platform is very user firendly. NotaryFix confirms the identity of the signers and allows all parties to meet in a virtual room where documents can be reviewed, signed and notarized faster and safer. Documents are then stored in our cloud for easy access.

Any valid government issued ID is considered acceptable. These include drivers licenses and US passports.

Many states have passed some type of law legalizing remote online notarizations, inlcuding Florida. Documents electronically notarized in Florida are legally binding.

Notarized documents as well as recordings of the sessions are stored in the NotaryFix platform to be viewed, resent and downloaded.

A remote online notary is a commissioned notary pubblic who has completed additional training to be able to perform notarization processes online as required by Chapter 117 of the Floida Statutes.

An electronic notarization allows for documents to be signed and notarized electronically but the signer and notary must be in the physical presence of each other. A remote online notarization allows the signer and notaries to meet virtually via audiovisual communication and electronically sign and notarize the documents. The pivotal difference is that in a remote online notarization the parties do not need to be in front of each other.

In order to perform a remote online notarization, the notary must be affiliated with a RON service provider whose platform complies with all the legal standards set by Florida law, as does NotaryFix.

In order to become an online notary, an already commissioned notary public must complete an additional course (visit the Florida Dept of State for approved course vendors) as well as additional bond of $25,000. The notary public's current insurance company should also offer the additional online notary bond.

NotaryFix does not store any data from notarizations. All of the session files are secured by Microsoft Azure Blob Storage. The exact URL is needed to access your files, along with a shared access signature (SAS) generated by our platform.

We use OAuth 2.0 authentication standards for user authentication, and SHA-256, which stands for secure hash algorithm 256. This cryptographic hashing algorithm (or function) is used for message, file, and data integrity verification. By using this encryption, no one, not even developers or customer service associates, can access your passwords. This is why a new password must be created in case you forget it.
