Become an online notary directly with the State of Florida

Step 1: Complete a Remote Online Notarization (RON) course. Upon completion and passing of the course, you will receive a certificate to be submitted to the state.

Step 2: Obtain a $25,000 notary bond and a $25,000 errors and omissions insurance and purchase a digital seal. These can be obtained from the same insurance company the notary public has her current bond with. You can also purchase them directly with the vendor below:

Step 3: Once you have completed steps 1-3, you will be ready to register with the state of Florida. You must complete an Application Registration for Online Notary Public along with a $10 payment payable to the Florida Department of State and mailed to:

To recap, you will need to submit to the Department of State:
  • RON course certificate
  • Notary Bond of $25,000 (signed)
  • E&O Insurance of $25,000 
  • $10 registration fee payable to the Florida Department of State
  • Application Registration for Online Notary Public (signed and notarize)
  • Copy of your Notary Public Certificate

Step 4: Once approved by the state you can book your onboarding training with NotaryFix. Your onboarding training will include; setting up your portal with NotaryFix, and creating your digital signature and e-notary seal. 

Once you have completed your onboarding session, you will be ready to begin notarizing.   

Become an Online Notary through a third-party vendor:

If your notary public commission is active, follow these steps:

Step 1: Select a package depending on the remainder of your current commission:

Step 2: Fill out the  Application Registration for Online Notary Public

Step 3: Mail your package to:

The package to the Florida Department of State needs to include:
  • RON course certificate
  • Notary Bond of $25,000 (signed)
  • E&O Insurance of $25,000 
  • Application Registration for Online Notary Public (signed and notarized)

  • Copy of your Notary Public Certificate

If you are not currently Notary Public or your commission has expired, follow these steps:

Step 1: COMPLETE ONLY IF YOU HAVE NEVER BEEN A NOTARY PUBLIC OR YOUR COMMISSION HAS BEEN EXPIRED FOR MORE THAN TEN (10) YEARS. IF NOT, SKIP TO STEP 2. 

Complete a notary education course online and free of charge in the link below:

You will need to save the certificate provided to you at the end of the course. 

Step 2: COMPLETE IF YOUR NOTARY PUBLIC COMMISSION HAS BEEN EXPIRED LESS THAN 10 YEARS.
